Barbara Zabawa Appointed to the Executive Committee of the Go Red for Women Madison Chapter of the American Heart Association - August 28, 2012

Lydia Chartre was elected Secretary of the Milwaukee Public Museum Board of Directors. The Milwaukee Public Museum, one of the largest in the United States, is a museum of human and natural history providing a dynamic and stimulating environment for learning, with something to excite and challenge visitors with a diversity of interests.

Timothy Posnanski was elected to the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Tennis & Education Foundation. Throughout the years, MTEF has served over 27,000 Milwaukee children who otherwise would lack a safe, productive, and healthy after-school and summer environment. MTEF’s high quality literacy and tennis programming not only builds academic skills and improves fitness but also emphasizes First Serve Life Skills development, which instills the confidence needed to succeed in school and in life.

Arthur Phillips was invited to join the Marquette University Law Alumni Association Board. The purpose of the board is to further the mission of the law school by acting as official ambassadors of the law school, mentoring and advising students related to their legal studies and careers, and recognizing and honoring distinguished alumni.

Lydia Chartre has been elected to the CAI-WI Board of Directors.  Daniel Miske has been elected Chair of the CAI-WI Legislative Action Committee.

Community Associations Institute (CAI) is a national organization with over 30,000 members dedicated to fostering vibrant, responsive, competent community associations.  Its mission is to help community associations promote harmony, a sense of community, responsible citizenship and effective leadership.

Arthur Phillips was elected to the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. Goodwill provides training, employment and supportive services for people with disabilities or disadvantages who seek greater independence.

Tiffany Hutchens was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Dane County (UCP). UCP provides support services for children and adults with a spectrum of disabilities and delays, including speech and motor delays, autism, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy and others, along with cerebral palsy.

UCP embraces opportunities for children and adults to reach their full potential, improve the quality of life for their families and foster a community in which all may be included.

Kathryn West has been reappointed to a fourth term as a Commissioner on the Redevelopment Authority for the City of Milwaukee.  She has been closely connected to Brownfield Redevelopment issues as a Commissioner on the City of Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority for more than 15 years, and is currently the longest-serving member on the RACM board.

The mission of the Redevelopment Authority is to eliminate blighting conditions that inhibit neighborhood reinvestment, to foster and promote business expansion and job creation, and to facilitate new business and housing development.

“Whyte Lights” is a program that supports our communities in a very unique way. In the month of October, WHD made $100 available to every employee who wished to use the money, at their discretion, to support a local organization, an individual in need, or even a complete stranger who could use a little help. The participation was tremendous and the results were moving. We’ve captured these stories in our Whyte Lights publication.

Erin Keesecker was appointed to the Madison Symphony Orchestra Board of Advisors.  As an Advisor, Erin will help coordinate and promote Club 201, the Orchestra's cultural club for young professionals ages 21-39.

WHD's John Emanuel was named Secretary/Treasurer of the National American Lung Association Board of Directors. In this role, Mr. Emanuel will interact closely with the national CFO, and guide the Board's oversight of the Lung Association's financial affairs. He will step down from his position on the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest Board to take on the new position. Mr. Emanuel has been involved with the American Lung Association for over 10 years. In honor of Emanuel’s service to the Lung Association, the Upper Midwest Board of Directors has named its 2012-2013 Biomedical Research Award the John F. Emanuel Biomedical Research Award.

The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through Education, Advocacy and Research.

Barbara Zabawa was recently appointed to the Executive Committee of the Go Red for Women Madison Chapter of the American Heart Association.  The mission of the American Heart Association is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

Eric Meier was appointed President of the Wauwatosa Mayfair Rotary Club. The Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe.

Daniel Geraghty was appointed to the Board of Directors of Glacial Lakes Conversancy, Inc.
 
Glacial Lakes Conservancy, Inc. is a non-profit land trust dedicated to preserving the lands of Wisconsin. Glacial Lakes Conservancy is specifically focused on offering land conservation options, organizational support, and technical guidance to landowners and organizations throughout Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Calumet and Fond du Lac counties. Mr. Geraghty previously served as an officer and board member of another land trust and has advised numerous land trusts and donors in planning for and defending conservation easements from both a legal and tax perspective.
