Kate Bechen Elected to the Wisconsin State Bar Health Law Board of Directors

Kate Bechen has been elected to the Wisconsin State Bar Health Law Board of Directors. Within the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Health Law section addresses relevant health issues, such as managed care, bioethics, risk management and health care, through educational opportunities, seminars and forums. Kate's term on the board began on July 1, 2014 and will conclude on June 30, 2014.

Bill Hughes Appointed to the Sacred Heart School of Theology Board of Directors

Bill Hughes was appointed to the Sacred Heart School of Theology Board of Directors. Sacred Heart School of Theology is North America's largest Catholic seminary focused on preparing men of all ages for priesthood. Sacred Heart's expertise ensures a rich, rewarding and effective formation experience for men of all ages, and places special focus on men over 30. The school, founded in 1932, is an apostolate of the Priests of the Sacred Heart and is located in Franklin, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wis.

Ariane Strombom was appointed as Vice Chair of the International Technology Law (ITechLaw) Association Young Lawyers' Committee. The mission of the Young Lawyers' Committee is to assist young technology lawyers by engaging them in the work of the Association, while also providing global networking, leadership and educational opportunities designed to build and enhance the fundamentals of their legal practice.

Jeff McIntyre Invited to Serve on Porchlight, Inc. Board of Directors

Jeff McIntyre has been invited to serve as a member of the board of directors of Porchlight, Inc. Porchlight is a non-profit organization which provides emergency shelter, food, employment services, counseling, and affordable transitional and permanent housing to homeless people in the Dane County area. Porchlight's services are designed to foster independence and the transition into permanent housing and employment.

Lisa Lange Elected to Board of Directors of Madison Children’s Museum and Madison Children’s Museum Foundation

Lisa Lange has been elected to the board of directors of the Madison Children’s Museum and the Madison Children’s Museum Foundation. She will serve on the Museum’s executive committee as secretary. Madison Children’s Museum (MCM) connects children with their families, their communities, and the world beyond through discovery learning and creative play. MCM challenges and inspires every visitor who comes through its doors. Its dedicated staff drives its mission by creating custom-crafted, award winning exhibits; providing programming that brings all ages together; and focusing on sustainability, from the parking lot to the rooftop.

Arthur Phillips Elected as Vice President and President-Elect of Marquette University Law School Alumni Association Board

Arthur Phillips was elected to serve as the vice president and president-elect of the Marquette University Law School Alumni Association Board for the 2014-2015 academic year. Arthur’s term is effective immediately, and as president-elect he will go on to serve as president of the Board for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Marquette University Law School embraces the broader University's Mission as "the search for truth, the discovery and sharing of knowledge, the fostering of personal and professional excellence, the promotion of a life of faith, and the development of leadership expressed in service to others." The purpose of the Law School Alumni Association, in turn, is to further the mission of the law school, and to support positive alumni relations.

WHD’s Patrick Coffey has been invited to serve as a member of the Advisory Board of the American Society of Physician Advisors (ASPA). The ASPA is a non-profit professional member association, which serves as an essential resource for the development and advancement of physician advisors and medical directors. It provides affordable education, tools and resources including publications, and collaboration and networking opportunities for its members. The Advisory Board will assist the ASPA in the development of a financially sound, best-in-class professional organization for physician advisors.

Michael Lauer Elected to the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors

Michael Lauer was elected to the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors. The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the American Heart Association now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters whose driving mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. They fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies and provide lifesaving tools and information to save and improve lives.

Hal Karas Appointed as Milwaukee County Condemnation Commissioner

Hal Karas was recently appointed as a Milwaukee County Condemnation Commissioner. He was voted into office by the Milwaukee County Circuit Court judges and his term is effective immediately. Condemnation Commissioners serve as an alternative means for aggrieved property owners to appeal condemnation awards instead of proceeding directly to Circuit Court.

Lydia Chartre has been reelected Secretary of the Milwaukee Public Museum Board of Directors. The Milwaukee Public Museum, one of the largest in the United States, is a museum of human and natural history providing a dynamic and stimulating environment for learning, with exhibits to excite and challenge visitors with a diversity of interests. Lydia’s reappointment offers the Museum another year of excellent service and dedication to its academic mission.

WHD’s Tiffany Hutchens has been appointed to the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health Board of Directors. WAWH strives to advance comprehensive women’s health in Wisconsin by engaging, educating, empowering, and mobilizing individuals and organizations. Healthy women lead to healthy families, and healthy families lead to healthy communities. Thus, WAWH envisions Wisconsin as an environment where all women have the opportunity to realize their optimal health and well-being at every stage of life.

Rebecca Mitich Appointed as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Northwest Side Community Development Corporation

Rebecca Mitich has been elected as Vice President of the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation’s Board of Directors. The NWSCDC works to enhance the standard of living on Milwaukee’s northwest side by improving the business environment for our low-income communities through community economic development. Since being founded in 1983, NWSCDC has served the economic development needs of Milwaukee’s low-income communities. The NWSCDC has assisted with neighborhood strategic planning to improve safety, land use planning and development on the Northwest Side to spur retail growth, and numerous business and workforce development programs.
