For over 20 years Frank Gumina has worked with corporate clients to develop effective and efficient strategies to meet business objectives. While Mr. Gumina counsels and guides companies through a vast array of legal issues affecting businesses, his primary focus is representing management in all facets of labor and employment law matters. He has extensive experience counseling employers in a myriad of industries including manufacturing, health care, insurance, technology, retail, construction, hospitality and transportation. Mr. Gumina has successfully litigated many employment, contract and other business dispute cases in state and federal courts throughout the country including co-chairing the defense of the first ADA jury trial in the nation.
Focusing his practice on employment discrimination matters, tort and contract claims arising from the employment relationship, unfair competition claims (including non-competition agreements), all facets of union issues facing employers, and benefit claims, Mr. Gumina regularly handles matters before federal and state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, various state agencies, the National Labor Relations Board and the United States Department of Labor. In addition, he provides counsel to employers on a host of human resources issues, including discipline, discharge, best practices, EEO compliance, affirmative action plans, managing the electronic workplace, collective bargaining, wage and hour regulations, ADA, FMLA, worker’s compensation, OSHA and reductions in force.
Mr. Gumina is a frequent lecturer before employer groups and attorneys on topics relating to employment and litigation concerns. He has been a guest labor and employment law presenter at the State Bar of Wisconsin, Marquette University's Law School and School of Business. Mr. Gumina also presents tailored in-house programs to managers and supervisors of small and large companies alike.
