WHD Hires Successful Entrepreneur As New Chief Executive

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 14, 2009

WHYTE HIRSCHBOECK DUDEK HIRES SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR TO BECOME CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF MILWAUKEE/MADISON LAW FIRM

Business leader brings more than 20 years of experience to law firm

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. (WHD), one of Wisconsin’s leading law firms with offices in Milwaukee and Madison, today announced it has hired Paul J. Eberle to become the Chief Executive of the law firm. Eberle has a long history of successful entrepreneurship and becomes one of the first non-lawyers to serve as Chief Executive of a major Milwaukee/Madison law firm.

“Paul Eberle brings more than 20 years of business skills and successful entrepreneurship to Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek and will help us to better serve our various clients around the state,” said Bruce Arnold, a managing director at WHD’s Milwaukee office. “Paul’s experience will mean our attorneys can focus on providing the highest quality of legal services, while his focus will be on running the business operations of the firm and providing that high level of support.”

Eberle, a Milwaukee native, comes to WHD as a founder and past president of a hardware, software, services and leasing firm, Capital Data, Inc. in Milwaukee. He has also served as a managing member at Capital Properties of Wisconsin, a private equity firm involved in real estate investment and management, and is a founding shareholder of Green Bay-based Lasernet, Inc., a print, mail and electronic data services company. Eberle has also worked with WHD and other area law firms on various business, employment, tax, real estate and litigation matters.

“Paul’s skills, attitude and background as a successful business leader will help us achieve the ambitious goals set forth in our strategic plans for the future,” said Jerard Jensen, the managing director of WHD’s Madison office. “He is a perfect fit for our governance model designed to benefit our clients. Paul’s track record of success in service-based enterprises makes him exceptionally qualified for the position.”

WHD established a corporate governance model in 2001 to allow for non-traditional ways of managing the firm, according to Arnold. The Chief Executive is accountable to a board of directors composed of attorney shareholders.

Eberle will work through the end of October alongside Mark Miller, the firm’s current CEO, who announced his departure earlier this year after eight years of leading WHD. Eberle will begin his new position on November 1.

Eberle lives in Elm Grove and is a graduate of College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and Marquette University High School in Milwaukee. For more than 65 years, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. has played a leading role in shaping the political, economic and legal landscapes in Wisconsin -- guiding its clients to successful outcomes. The firm, with offices in Milwaukee and Madison, has more than 150 attorneys and paralegals practicing in more than 40 areas of law.
